Our Story
BEHIND THE SCENES
Our program is a federal grant program through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority Health (OMH). Our program is part of a collaborative effort to meet the Healthy People 2030 objectives and to increase awareness of health literacy in the areas of COVID-19, vaccines, and health care.
We launched our program on July 1, 2021 in the city of Pine Bluff with a mission to empower, consult, collaborate, and inform the community by providing fact-based information, health awareness, and collaborative educational outreach to increase access and exposure to health-related topics and patient/provider relationships.
The initiative has an objective to reach specific goals in a two year period:
increasing health literacy and decreasing the proportion of adults who report poor communication with their health care provider.
increasing the proportion of adults whose health care providers involved them in all decisions.
increase the proportion of individuals with vaccination records in an information system.
